Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a Managing Editor who wishes to work closely with the Editor-in-Chief, the Content Editor, and the broader editorial team. The position is central to the journal’s operations and development, and we are seeking a person with strong organizational skills and an interest in academic publishing and gender studies.

We expect that you have a research background and preferably experience with editorial work, project coordination, or similar activities.

The position as Managing Editor is, as a starting point, for a period of approximately two years, but can be extended in dialogue with the editorial team if desired.

What can you expect as Managing Editor?
The role of Managing Editor offers a unique opportunity to help shape and develop a key feminist and gender studies journal. As Managing Editor, you will work closely with current debates in gender and feminist research and contribute to creating an important platform for knowledge exchange.

The role provides valuable experience in editorial work, project coordination, and academic publishing, while allowing you to build a strong network across research environments and institutions.

As Managing Editor, you will:
• Coordinate the journal’s editorial processes in close collaboration with the Editor-in-Chief and Content Editor
• Ensure progress in manuscript handling, including communication with authors, editorial board members, and reviewers supported by a student assistant
• Plan and follow up on editorial meetings (approx. four annually)
• Contribute to the strategic development of the journal and its workflows
• Support the work on special issues in collaboration with relevant editorial groups

The work is supported by a student assistant who contributes to administrative and practical tasks, a well-functioning editorial team, and an established digital platform (tidsskrift.dk), which ensures stable and efficient workflows.

How to apply
If you are interested in the position, please send a short statement of motivation and your CV to redsek@hum.ku.dk by August 15, 2026.

We are committed to fostering diversity across gender, ability/disability, race/ethnicity, sexuality, and other forms of difference within our editorial team and we especially encourage early-career researchers to apply.

The role provides valuable experience in academic editorial work and research dissemination. Although the position is unpaid, in some cases PhD students may be able to have the work compensated in hours through their home institution. We therefore encourage applicants to explore local possibilities.
