This article looks at the living and working conditions of a group of Egyptian workers in the Paris region. The article argues that the experience of this group is dictated by a transnational framework that is particularly evident in the meanings of ‘community' and of ‘home', and by the gender assigned roles in rural Egypt where the man is to shoulder the burden of providing for the family.Downloads
