This article contributes perspectives on the use of Immersive Virtual Reality with children in daycare and school. For two years, social education students at SCHOOL have had access to VR equipment. Based on a brief introduction, students have used VR with children in their internship periods. In the article, four students' experiences are presented with perspectives on the use of VR, based on interviews. The overall focus is on how VR can motivate children in a concrete pedagogical context.
The article points out that VR can be used to support children's motivation for learning, making the learning more bodily-present or real. Subjects that are otherwise treated abstractly can be made more concrete in VR simulations. Based on student experience, there is evidence which indicate that VR can affect children's stress level and that this effect lasts some time after use. The article also points out that VR can be used to strengthen relationships, and that the educator's role and the context of use are important for motivation and learning.
