What is the definition of Open Access?
Open Access is a way of publishing material, where access to the publication is free and without restrictions or subscribtion. Open Access publications often have a Creative Commons license, allowing distribution, sharing and adaptation of the publications according to the specific license terms.
Is embargo of journal content allowed?
There are several advantages of immediate Open Access (e.g effective knowledge sharing, and enhanced research opportunities), but the journals may have different subscribtion models, or offer delayed access to the publications.
All published material have to be accessible no later than six months after publication for natural sciences and health science, and no late than 12 months for humanities and social sciences.
If the journal chooses to have embargo/delayed access, it may not cover 100 % of the published material.

What support are offered by the Royal Danish Library?

The contract is irrevocable the first year. Hereafter the contract can be terminated by both parts with 3 months notice from the end of the month, in which it is revoked.

What is Sherpa Romeo and what advantages will my journal receive by being indexed here?
Sherpa Romeo is a database containing information about different publishers' and journals' Open Access policies and possibilities, including information about the length of embargo on articles, and guidelines for depositing and making pre- and postprints and the final published version of an article available.
Sherpa Romeo is the largest database of its kind, and getting your journal indexed in Sherpa Romeo is a good idea, since this exposed the Open Access possibilities of your journal. Furthermore, several other systems utilizes the data of Sherpa Romeo, including different journal findes, discovery and CRIS systems.
