Open Call for Papers: DUT 38

Dear researchers, educators, educational developers, and leaders in higher education,

‘The Higher Education in a Time of Transition’ is the theme for the Danish Network for Educational Development in Higher Education’s Conference (DUNK) 2024. In DUT issue number 38, we aim to present a series of articles that illuminate this theme. Here we borrow the conference's description of the theme:

"Universities and other higher education institutions are facing major challenges and opportunities in a time when the framework for education is being disrupted and changed. Societal trends, political reforms, digitalization and the introduction of generative artificial intelligence raise questions about what needs to be renewed and what needs to be retained in the pedagogical thinking and toolbox of universities and higher education.

How is artificial intelligence incorporated into teaching, and what can and should it mean for the way we teach? What does the increasing diversity among students mean and what didactic approaches can be used to create inclusion and provide equal opportunities for participation? Which values and which tools will shape and influence the universities of the future, and what can and should we do to analyze, create tools and advise university leaders, teachers, university educators, didactic educators and students so that they are strong in relation to a future we already have a foothold in?"

The Danish Journal of Higher Education (DUT) calls for submissions within various article genres, offering the opportunity for diversity – also in terms of genres. We welcome contributions to the themed issue in four article genres: research articles, practice articles, debate articles, and DUT guides. Guidelines are available on our website for each genre: https://tidsskrift.dk/dut/Kriterier.

Important Dates:

  • Deadline for manuscript submission: September 1, 2024
  • Editorial decision on whether the submission should be sent for review: September 10, 2024
  • Feedback sent to authors: November 5, 2024
  • Deadline for possible article revision: December 15, 2024
  • Final editorial decision on submission: January 15, 2024
  • Deadline for final anonymized article ready for publication: February 15, 2024
  • Expected publication date for DUT 38: May 15, 2024

Contributions should be submitted through our online submission system, specifying the article genre and using the correct article template: https://tidsskrift.dk/dut/about/submissions.

Contributors should be prepared to participate in the peer review of others' contributions.

Articles on other themes can be submitted to DUT38 outside of the theme.

Proposals for upcoming DUT Theme Sections (four articles on a particular university pedagogical theme or focus from a group of authors – e.g., a DUN SIG) can be sent to the responsible editor Rikke Toft Nørgård: rtoft@edu.au.dk.

Best regards,

The DUT Editorial Team
