Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The manuscript is submitted in one of the DUT templates in a Word file.
- Authors have indicated in the manuscript whether they want the article to be labelled as a scientific article, a specialised article or a DUT Guide.
- The title must not exceed 100 characters (including spaces).
- The manuscript must contain an abstract of maximum 150 words.
- The manuscript must be paginated.
- The manuscript must include line numbers
- Manuscript length: max 7,000 words (excluding references)
- Tables, figures and illustrations must be inserted in the body of the article. It is the responsibility of the author of the article to investigate copyright issues for illustrations produced by others and to obtain authorisation for use if necessary.
- The manuscript is anonymised: (a) author information is not included in the manuscript; (b) references to own publications are anonymised; (c) references to specific places and education programmes are anonymised.
- References and bibliography must follow the APA system.
- All author information is updated in OJS.
Copyright Notice
DUT is published electronically via the State Library’s Open Journal System (Tidsskrift.dk) and DUN’s website (DUN-net.dk) in spring and autumn. Reading and downloading articles from the journal is free and available to everyone.
It is not possible to subscribe to The Danish Journal of Higher Education (DUT), but if you are a member of DUN, you will receive a newsletter with a link to the publication when the latest edition is published online. The link will also be available on this page as soon as the journal is published.

Articles in The Danish Journal of Higher Education (DUT) are covered by copyright law and may be quoted from.
However, the following conditions must be met:
- The citation must be in accordance with ‘good practice’.
- Quotations may only be quoted ‘to the extent required by the purpose’.
- The author of the text must be credited and the source must be indicated in relation to the bibliographic information above.
- Scientific and specialised articles are subject to double-blind peer review.
- Reviewing a manuscript for The Danish Journal of Higher Education involves the following:
(i) Filling in an assessment form with predefined criteria.
(ii) Making a written assessment: For this purpose, we encourage reviewers to write a full and constructive review that allows authors to improve their article.
(iii) Issuing a recommendation: Available options include ‘accept’, ‘corrections required’ (equivalent to a minor revision), ‘resubmit for assessment’ (equivalent to a major revision) or ‘reject’. - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: We have seen a few cases where assessments have not been registered but have been lost. We therefore encourage you to:
(i) Save a copy of the written assessment in a Word file on your own computer
(ii) Continue your assessment until a page is displayed confirming that your assessment has been registered.
Privacy Statement
The names and email addresses entered on this site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of the journals and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
Information about a user will be saved as long as the user is active. If the user has been inactive for a year, the user will be contacted by e-mail. If the user does not respond to this e-mail, the user account and information about the user will be deleted after 1 month. If the user has participated in editorial work (e.g. as an editor, guest editor, or reveiwer), or has submitted an article to a journal, the user account and information will be saved for 3 years after the last editorial job or submission.
