Abstract

This article draws on a research- and development project on digital documentation in and of social care work. We analyze how professionalism and division of labour is re-negotiated when practicing documentation in three different institutional types, namely the market oriented, the bureaucratic, and pedagogical institution. We show, how division of labour is manifested differently due to the three institution’s differences, and discuss challenges and opportunities for developing ’occupational professionalism’ and ’organizational professionalism’ within the three institutional types. We conclude by sketching out some points of attention for social care institutions, university colleges and the professionals in relation to professional development.
