Vurdering af kognitivt funktionsniveau hos personer med erhvervet hjerneskade er en vigtig forudsætning for at kunne forstå
personerne, deres forudsætninger og adfærd. Til dette formål findes både neuropsykologiske test, screeningsredskaber og selvrapporteringsskemaer, der alle har til formål at belyse og udrede kognitive vanskeligheder inden for forskellige domæner. Imidlertid findes der også personer, hvor det ikke er muligt, f.eks. på grund af et meget lavt funktionsniveau, at benytte disse metoder. Reviewet tager udgangspunkt i retningslinjerne for et scoping review, hvor formålet har været at identificere og beskrive fundne informantbaserede analyseredskaber til vurdering af kognitivt funktionsniveau hos personer med erhvervet hjerneskade. Reviewet har gennem en systematisk søgning identificeret seks analyseredskaber, alle udformet som spørgeskemaer, der baserer
sig på observationer og informationer fra pårørende eller fagprofessionelle. To af analyseredskaberne omhandler eksekutive funktioner, to socialkognition, et opmærksomhed og et hukommelse. Ingen af redskaberne dækkede mere end ét kognitivt domæne. På baggrund af de inkluderede analyseredskaber og en beskrivelse af deres psykometriske egenskaber rejses en diskussion om anvendeligheden af og behovet for sådanne analyseredskaber. Det konkluderes, at der er et behov for at kunne vurdere personer med erhvervet hjerneskades kognitive funktionsniveau i praksis – også når dette ikke er muligt ved traditionel neuropsykologisk undersøgelse, men at der ikke på nuværende tidspunkt findes ét samlet analyseredskab, der dækker dette behov inden for flere kognitive domæner, samt at de inkluderede redskaber savner validering ift. neuropsykologiske test.
