– Et netnografisk feltstudie af kvindelige gameres deltagelse på Twitch.tv

Resumé

Fællesskaber kan antage mange former i den digitale tidsalder, hvilket både skaber nye muligheder, og nye slags barrierer for meningsfuld deltagelse. Gennem anvendelse af netnografisk feltarbejde blandt kvindelige gamere, der livestreamer spil som Fortnite, Counter-Strike og Call of Duty, belyser denne artikel feltet omkring kvindelige gamere på platforme som TikTok, Twitch og YouTube. At deltage i ”gaming” er nemlig ikke afgrænset til at spille computer, men består også af en udvidet palet af sociale rum on- og offline, hvor det at følge, se og kommentere på andres spil er en fremtrædende deltagelsesform. Mere specifikt illustrerer studiet diskursive praksisformer på streamingplatformen Twitch.tv og undersøger, hvilke subjektpositioner der gøres tilgængelige og sværttilgængelige for de kvindelige streamere, og dermed tilskuende piger, igennem interaktion mellem streamer og livestreamens tilskuere. På baggrund af syv timers samtidige videooptagelser af både streamer, spil og kommentarspor på fire kvindelige gameres Twitch-kanaler analyserer vi, hvordan det udvidede gamingfællesskab rummer forskellige deltagelsesformer. Artiklen diskuterer, hvordan konkrete cases illustrerer diskurspraksisser, som børn og unge kan møde igennem deres gaminginteresse, og hvordan navnlig kønsnormative positioneringer observeret i streamingsessionerne kan virke begrænsende på kvinder og pigers meningsfulde deltagelse i online gamingfællesskaber.
