CFP DUT 42 – Pedagogical Design in Higher Education

Call for Papers: The Danish Journal of Higher Education (DUT) No. 42

Special Section: University Pedagogical Design of Programmes and Teaching

In a special section of DUT 42, we focus on the themes presented at the Danish University Pedagogy Conference (DUNK) in 2026: Pedagogy in higher education is constantly propelled forward by thoughts, ideas, motivations, and demandsIn recent years, our work has also been framed by a fundamental transformation of the Danish educational landscape. We glimpse the contours of a university future with shorter Master's programmes, part time professional Master's degrees, and an increased focus on lifelong learning. This challenges us to rethink how we design both study programmes and teaching. How do we ensure academic depth and progression when programmes become shorter and more flexible? How do we build coherence between learning objectives, activities, and assessments—while also making room for industry relevance and interdisciplinarity? How do we ensure strong collaboration between academic environments and pedagogical consultants throughout the process?

Aligned with the conference themes, we therefore invite contributions to DUT 42 that examine and discuss pedagogical design of programmes and teaching—from initial ideas to fully developed course offerings. In addition to the questions above, we welcome contributions addressing, for example:

  • How we can develop robust yet flexible programme structures.
  • How technology and data may support design decisions—without compromising quality or ethics.
  • How we can create inclusive learning environments as a design task, enabling more students to become co-creators of knowledge.
  • How programmes and teaching can be designed in practice.

Contributions that fall outside the conference themes may be submitted to the open section of DUT 42. Submissions must address themes relevant to the journal. Read more about the journal here: https://tidsskrift.dk/dut/about.
