Abstract
Mycoplasma induced rash and mucositis (MIRM) was described for the first time in 2015 as a collective term for patients with dermatological complications to a mycoplasma pneumoniae infection. MIRM is a differential diagnosis for erythema multiforme, Steven Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis. However, MIRM has a significantly more benign prognosis. If the patients are wrongly diagnosed with more complicated differential diagnoses, over treatment might occur, an untreated mycoplasma pneumonia infection might be overlooked, and the patient might be incorrectly diagnosed with an adverse drug reaction. We describe a case with a 21-year-old male with MIRM. The patients developed conjunctival ulcerations and oral and genital mucositis. Treatment included tropical and systemic steroids.
