Resumé

This article introduces a panoramic conception of trust: a maximalist theory whose many concepts, like a panorama, can be focused on the analysis of concrete situations, so that theoretical development and empirical studies stand in a dialectical relationship. Trust is understood simultaneously as a subjective and a relational-social phenomenon and is analysed through four fundamental trust relationships: interpersonal trust, institutional trust, trust in technology and self-trust. A distinction is drawn between habitual (routine, unreflective) and reflexive trust, and it is shown how the shift between the two plays out in each relationship. On this basis, a hermeneutics of trust is developed, along with a normative distinction between pragmatic and morally well-founded trust. As a recurring, topical example, the use of AI tools in nursing is examined, where trust in technology, the institution and the individual staff member are interwoven, and where questions of responsibility become questions of credibility. The article suggests that a panoramic analysis of trust can enrich the reflection within professions and professional education programmes on trust, technology and judgement.
