Med udgangspunkt i en kort introduktion til hvordan rum og rammer gestaltes i den virtuelle 3D verden Second Life undersøger denne artikel, på hvilke måder rum og rammesætning anvendes og opleves i en faglig sammenhæng. Som eksempel anvendes det danske biblioteksprojekt i Second Life, Info Island DK.
Ud fra en analyse af Information Archipelago, som er et område i den virtuelle verden med en høj koncentration af biblioteker, forsøger artiklen desuden at skitsere, hvordan design af biblioteker typisk gribes an i Second Life.
