Resumé

I denne oversigtsartikel præsenterer og diskuterer vi potentialer og problematikker ved sociale medier i undervisning og uddannelse. Begrebet ’sociale medier’ begyndte at vinde indpas omkring 2008-2009 som afløser for termen ’web 2.0’, der siden 2004 havde været en samlebetegnelse for en række populære tjenester såsom Twitter, Youtube og Facebook. I artiklen indleder vi med tage et historisk blik på fremkomsten af ’web 2.0’ og ’sociale medier’, som vi derefter knytter nærmere til uddannelse og undervisning. Her fremhæver vi potentialerne ved sociale medier og giver nogle eksempler på pædagogisk brug. Det gør vi ved at diskutere sociale medier som henholdsvis netværk, værktøjer og som koncept. Efterfølgende vil vi fremhæve nogle problematikker og spændingsfelter ved de sociale medier. Det gør vi under overskrifterne: Reel vs ideel praksis, Spændingsfelter mellem sociale medier og formel uddannelse og sidst som Overvågningskapitalisme og kommercialisme. Endeligt samler vi de to tråde i et afsluttende afsnit, hvor vi syntetiserer og diskuterer sociale mediers rolle i undervisning og uddannelse.
