The House as Thing
Encountering Thresholds in Randi & Katrine’s Architectural Installations
Keywords:
Randi & Katrine, Thing Theory, Gaston Bachelard, Thresholds, Anthropomorphic HouseAbstract
Drawing on Gaston Bachelard’s poetics of space and Bill Brown’s thing theory, this article examines Randi & Katrine’s anthropomorphic houses. Through analyses of The House in Your Head, Between Towers, and The Village, it explores how their houses become “things” that challenge distinctions between inside and outside, transparency and opacity, safety and danger.
