A number of recent developments have breathed new life into the old questions about the biographical method and the author in literary studies: autofiction, post-criticism, identity politics (for lack of a better term), AI, and new forms of authorship studies. These new perspectives are highlighted in the contributions to this special issue. Aktualitet - Litteratur, Kultur og Medier is a journal based at the Department for the Study of Culture at the University of Southern Denmark. The journal began under the name Aktuel Forskning. Litteratur, Kultur og Medier but changed its name and format in 2016.

Aktualitet publishes articles within the fields of literature, culture and media studies. All articles undergo a double-blind peer review process and an editorial process to ensure quality and relevance.
Furthermore Aktualitet publishes relevant book/media reviews. There are separate guidelines for reviews.

Historically the journal has primarily published research from the department, but the journal is open for submissions from all academics, national and international. The journal accepts articles in the Nordic languages and English. Articles in other European languages can also be accepted provided that relevant peer reviewers can be found.

Articles are published as soon as the editorial process has finished. There are no fixed dates for submission: Authors are welcome so submit manuscripts at all times.
