A prevalent narrative positions Denmark as a knowledge-based nation and implies a trust in our competitive advantage over other countries in finding smarter solutions. An evidence-base seems to be the key to identification of such “smarter” solutions. The evidence movement has reached far into the professional practice causing criticism. Although the dominant conceptualisation of evidence may be too insensitive to a dynamic and complex reality, rather than turning down the entire notion, the article presents a redefinition and expansion of the evidence term to include the knowledge forms of the professionals and their discretionary judgement.
