Abstract

In the dissertation Evaluating Bodies: A Mixed-Methods Study of Bodies and their Inter-relational Significance for Students’ Health and Well-being in Danish State Schools. I focus on students' perspectives on what contributes to their health and well-being in their everyday school life. To explore this, I have combined different methods that shed light on students' perspectives, specifically from students in 5th, 7th, and 9th grade in the Danish primary and secondary school system. The physical body is highlighted as a central aspect of students' well-being, as it is always already present in the school and carries symbolic value. However, the role of the body is often overlooked in existing well-being research, making this a key contribution of the dissertation. The dissertation consists of a main part (kappe) and four articles. Since the dissertation's publication, an additional article has been published. Its key findings are also included in this summary-article.
