In this essay, Dinara Rasuleva tells her personal story of losing her native Tatar language while reflecting on Russification, intensified by the war against Ukraine. She examines the marginalization and gradual displacement of Indigenous languages and literatures in education, publishing, and global literary institutions. The essay also introduces her initiatives to support linguistic and literary resurgence, including the TEL:L writing laboratory and a non-Russian-language-centered PEN network.
