Abstract

This article is based on a Ph.D. thesis on school-home relations and children’s every- day life. Based on an ethnographic study of children’s everyday life in and across school and family the article focuses on how relations between school and home as well as children’s identities are created through children, parents and teachers practices, expectations and senses. The analysis reveals that the schools expect an intensified involvement in the family. Furthermore, these expectations influence family life as well as children’s experiences of being a successful or a failure as a child.
