Abstract

Experience and a user survey made in 1991 at the Aarhus School of Business have shown that the Danish translator ofLSP-texts has a problem with quickly (i.e. by making only a few dictionary references) obtaining sufficient relevant information within a certain field, i.e. information about both the subject-matter and the terminology ofthe subject field. Available dictionaries do not cover the needs ofthe user.
We will discuss to which extent the individual dictionary article can be made informative and reader-friendly through a suitable selection and distribution of information, thus contributing to meeting the needs of the users. The discussion will be illustrated by examples taken from dictionaries and lexicographic dissertations written by students of LSP-language at the Aarhus School ofBusiness.
