En islandsk ensproget ordbog
Resumé
The intention with this paper is to compare Íslensk orðabók, a monolingual Icelandic dictionary, published 1983 and a new edition from the year 2002, take a look at the editors' principles and the methods they chose. The focus will especially be on loanwords and foreign words which until now have not been accepted in Icelandic dictionaries without a special marking. In the editions 1963 and 1983 they were marked with a question mark to show that they were not accepted into the language. In the new edition quite many foreign words are now to be found, the question mark is no longer used, and new markings were chosen instead which will be discussed. At the end dialectal words will be mentioned as well as personal names.
