Samspelet mellan text och bild i enspråkigt svenska ordböcker

Abstract

This article tries to create a theoretical framework for the use of illustrations
in dictionaries. As a basis for the study ideas from prototype
semantics and ecological perception theories are implemented.
On the basis of a theory describing the cognitive processing of text
and illustration it should be possible to create a manual that would
improve and optimize the work of the lexicographer. A theoretically
well founded manual would, it is assumed, make it easier for the
user of dictionaries to (re)create word meanings from descriptions
using illustrations along with verbal ones.
