Abstract

There are many ways to comprehend technology in and around the subject matter of Technology Comprehension (TC). And the many possible ways to comprehend technologies are challenging the coherence of TC. This article investigates how respectively representative and performative ontologies underpinning the subject matter may affords different courses of action in relation to the comprehensions. With an outset in Science and Technology Studies (STS) the article suggest to take the name of the subject matter at face value and use it as a concept for any professional understanding of technology. The article then use this concept to explicate which technology comprehensions that already exists within the curricula for TC, which comprehensions that are candidates to become part of the curricula, and which comprehensions that already exists in the educational and societal environment of TC. The article is concluded by suggesting the concept of “enactment” may provide a way to work with different technology comprehensions in TC.
