Abstract

This article describes a quantitative research at three schools concerning the didactic practice of math problems. The study is/makes up an independent project within the frame of the so-called University School Project, a cooperation between three primary and lower secondary schools and the Institute for Teaching at University College South Denmark. In the project, a tool for analysing the collected student assignments and student products has been developed. The study shows a practice predominantly based on teaching resources where arithmetic within the areas of numbers, algebra and geometry makes up the majority of the math problems. Student products from the examined assignments show that the students do as they are told, and that the answer often is a number (set answer/result).
