The current article is a response to, a review of, and a discussion of a preliminary translation of the Pauline Letter to the Philippians for the new, official Danish Bible translation to appear in final form in 2036. The article “compares notes” between the respective translation processes, contexts, results and principles of the Norwegian, revised Bible version Bibel 2024 and the Danish Bibelen 2036, using the Pauline Letter to the Philippians as a case study. The article also reflects on the usefulness of printed Bibles and large, demanding Bible translation projects in an era when artificial intelligence can potentially keep a given translation constantly updated. The article was solicited by DTT. The author was/is Chair of the Translation Committee responsible for the Norwegian revision process resulting in The Norwegian Bible Society’s Bibel 2024.
