Resumé

The Aesthetics of the Heath in Thomas Hardy In the wake of climate change and the unfolding environmental crises, the article investigates how the literary fiction of Thomas Hardy form and reform our imaginations of marginalized landscapes and the European dry heath in particular. It argues that rereadings of novels like The Return of the Native are a vital supplement to policymaking for the reassessment of hitherto neglected or discredited landscape types, and, further, that such a rereading paves the way for new comparative perspectives between English and Danish literary history.
