Abstract

What began as an interview with Jean Lave after she received an honorary doctorate at RUC, has developed into a conversation among Erik Axel, Anders Kjer and Jean. We started with Jean’s theory of learning as always situated in changing participation in ongoing everyday life. In the interview we focus on questions of how broader social relations differentiate specific forms of learning in situated practice. She works with Gramsci's concept of hegemonies as specific comprehensions in specific practices that serve to support dominating social forms, uses LeFebvre to identify situated praxis as the totality of everyday life. The two historical conceptions open the opportunity to identify learning as changing persons in changing participation in changing practices. These issues are discussed in relation to the political history of Kalundborg Production School around 2001.
