<em>Tanums store rettskrivningsordbok</em> – det norske bokmålets fasit

Resumé

The authoritative spelling dictionary of Norwegian Bokmål has for 75 years been Tanums store rettskrivningsordbok. The manuscript has recently been converted into a simple, but well tagged database. Redesigned digital and printed versions are planned for 2014. The flexible spelling system of Norwegian Bokmål will be clearly visible in the new user interface, with full documentation of the variant form and inflection systems, and with numerous cross-references. The publication might inspire the Language Council of Norway to reconsider some peculiarities of the standardized Bokmål. The editors of the Tanum dictionary also invite interested parties to a discussion about the selection of lemmas in a modern and comprehensive spelling dictionary of a language where new compounds emerge every day.
