Resumé

We present a concept for a linguistic reference work, Dansk Lingvistisk Leksikon
(DLL). It is a product of recent metalexicographic conquests concerning dictionary
functions. DLL is presented as a polyfunctional work of reference where the borders
between commonly known genre divisions are crossed deliberately in order to
comply with multifarious user needs. DLL's genuine purpose is to help the users
familiarize themselves with and communicate within the field of linguistics. Comprehensiveness
is given a higher priority than knowledge-in-depth: DLL will cover
both primary linguistic disciplines and adjacent areas, there will be numerous crossreferences
and references to scholarly literature, and not so traditional headwords
such as abbreviations and institutions will be included. DLL will have both a bilingual
and a proscriptive dimension by criticizing inadequate terms and recommending
new ones. Whenever new terms or new viewpoints are presented, this will
be highlighted in order to support the reading and cognitive functions.
