Resumé

The present paper describes the course called “The dictionary in language teaching” which has been offered to future teachers of Spanish as a foreign language at the M.A. level in the Department of Foreign Languages at the University of Iceland. The aim of the course is to enable the future teacher to evaluate and select the appropriate dictionary for a particular group of language students and to develop the students’ dictionary skills and dictionary use inside as well as outside the classroom.
