Abstract

Based on 2 x 100 financial news stories that were commented on or liked on Facebook in 2012 and 2015, this article examines the types of financial issues media users interact about. It turns out to be especially economic news about the developments in income distribution and on the labor market. This stands in contrast to previous international research into the media's coverage of economic conditions, which has emphasized the importance of news on market trends. Future research should therefore analyze the media's coverage of income distribution and development on the labor market and the possible consequences that these types of news can have on media users' economic and political dispositions.
