This article offers a heuristic overview of three major trajectories in modern Pauline scholarship: the Traditional (Lutheran) Perspective, the New Perspective, and the ”Paul within Judaism” Perspective (formerly known as the Radical New Perspective). Focusing primarily on the interpretation of Paul’s Letter to the Romans, the article outlines the principal representatives, publications, and characteristic exegetical and theological emphases associated with each approach. The article concludes with brief reflections on the current state and possible future developments of Pauline research.
