Abstract

The present article aims at sketching a panorama of the screening and reception of film adaptations of Jorge Amado’s works produced between the 1970s and 1980s and exhibited in the Soviet Union on different platforms and to analyze these choices.

Marina Fonseca Darmaros, Universidade de São Paulo

Marina Darmaros is a PhD candidate at the Department of Russian Literature and Culture of the University of São Paulo (USP). She was a researcher at the Filology Department of Moscow State University Lomonosov and holds a Master in International Journalism by Russian University of Peoples’ Friendship. Currently she researches the connections between Brazilian writer Jorge Amado and the Soviet Union, with particular attention to the gatekeeping and the comparison of the Brazilian originals and its Russian translations.
