Gymnasieelevers økokritiske refleksioner under eksplorative samtaler

Resumé

This article investigates upper secondary students’ ecocritical reflections during exploratory teacher-student conversations about Dan Turèll’s poem “It’s lovely out in the countryside.” Based on an ecocritical model of analysis consisting of various ecocritical concepts, four transcribed conversations from two HTX (Higher Technical Examination Programme) classes and two STX (Higher General Examination Programme) classes are analysed. The study shows how the exploratory conversational format - characterised by the absence of teacher questions, open turn-taking, and shared thinking aloud - creates space for theoretical reflections on the relationship between nature and culture. The students use ecocritical key concepts independently and with disciplinary precision, while aesthetic and moral dimensions receive less attention. The conversations support a philosophical understanding of sustainability, pointing to the need to supplement existing didactic knowledge about quality in sustainability education with such a dimension.
