En måde at mærke os i verden: nymaterialisme som politisk teori

Denne artikel undersøger nymaterialisme som tilgang i politisk teori og bidrager til en forståelse af, hvordan nymaterialismen udfordrer det antropocentriske fundament i moderne politisk tænkning. I en tid præget af klimaforandringer og økologiske kriser opfordrer nymaterialismen os til at gentænke forholdet mellem menneske og natur som forbundet og gensidigt afhængige. Artiklen argumenterer for, at politisk teori må tage alvorligt, at politiske landskaber formes af både mennesker og ikkemenneskelige forsamlinger. Med udgangspunkt i tre indskudte fortællinger om ekstrem nedbør i Sydney under vejrfænomenet La Niñas indflydelse vises det, hvordan nymaterialismen tilbyder nye begreber og følsomheder til analysen af politik. Artiklen illustrerer, hvordan spørgsmål om magt og kritik kan forstås på nye måder, når materialiteten bringes til live og ikke blot betragtes som baggrund, men som medspiller i politiske processer. Dermed tilbyder nymaterialismen en radikal gentænkning af, hvad politisk teori er, hvad den spørger om, og hvilke ontologiske og epistemologiske præmisser den bygger på.
