Function verb constructions (FVC, Funktionsverbgefiige) I Support verb constructions are very frequently used in Danish and in German, but since the translations are rather unpredictable they should be described precisely in active dictionaries. In the introduction different types of constructions are briefly described. Then the treatment of FVCs with Danish anvendelse in dictionaries relevant for Danes translating into German is examined, revealing lacunas and inconsistencies. Results of a contrastive research based on parallel corpuses in German and Danish are described, and finally a list of desiderata for a thorough contrastive lexicograhic description is proposed.
