Leksikografi i pedagogisk perspektiv Ein presentasjon av Norsk Ordbok for skoleelevar og studentar
Resumé
Although publishing houses ought to be an important participant in the marketing of
dictionaries, necessary qualifications are to be found in the editorial dictionary staff. In
particular this is the case when it comes to large multi-volume national dictionaries. In
spite of this, it is hard to find descriptions of dictionary presentations intended for pupils
and students. An investigation of curricula in compulsory school and upper-secondary
school in the Scandinavian countries reveals big differences between the countries. The
Danish compulsory school curriculum shows thorough use of dictionaries, whereas the
subject is not mentioned at all in the Swedish curriculum. Taking a presentation of Norsk
Ordbok for pupils and students as a starting point, the authors show how the use of Norsk
Ordbok can be integrated in mother tongue teaching to expand not only word knowledge,
but also knowledge of language history and dialectology. By use of auditive and visual effects
pupils and students can be motivated to use a complex dictionary. An evaluation of
the presentation shows that pupils and students find it useful and instructive.
