The German language is among the languges that have been studied most thoroughly, which, among other things, has resulted in a number of reference books about the German language. Generally these reference books are considered fairly reliable. This article discusses the realibility of Duden's "Der Duden in zehn Bänden", and advises users to exercise caution when dealing with German reference books, as inconsistencies or errors will often occur. A subjective linguistic instinct among the individual authors often has a bearing on this subject.Downloads
