Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The article has not previously been published
  • The article is not under review elsewhere
  • The article format (layout, reference style etc.) is as defined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Contributions

Contributions to Outlines may vary in form, and may

  • account for empirical studies and development projects
  • present and discuss theories and methodologies in the field of social studies
  • relate to or combine one or more scientific disciplines
  • create new theoretical understandings and conceptualizations
  • critically discuss foundations and approaches in the social sciences
  • present and reflect on practice research, action research, developmental research, applied research efforts, etc.

Outlines welcomes papers written in English.

Non-native English writers are required to provide professional language revision of manuscripts before submitting final version.

Contributions must be original and not currently under review elsewhere.

 

Format


Normally, articles are 60-70.000 characters, but may be considerably shorter or longer, depending on subject matter and style of writing.

 

Notes are footnotes and are kept to a minimum.

 

Authors must make sure the article uses the Outlines template - either at submission or at a later stage, after acceptance.

 

Formatting citations and referencing follow the APA style.

 

Abstract, discipline and keywords

 

Authors must provide an abstract of approximately 1.500 characters, and specify discipline and suitable keywords. This information is very important since this is what search engines browse first.

 

Reviews

Reviews are welcomed in Outlines, provided that the material reviewed is relevant for Outlines readers (see above). Length of reviews is maximally 10.000 characters.

Copyright Notice

From issue no. 1 2022 and onward, the journal uses the CC Attribution-NonCommercial- Share Alike 4.0 license. The authors retain the copyright to their articles. The articles published in the previous 37 issues (From Vol. 1, no. 1, 1999 to Vol. 22, No. 1, 2021, are published according to Danish Copyright legislation. This implies that readers can download, read, and link to the articles, but they cannot republish these articles.  The journal retain the copyright of these articles. Authors can upload them in their institutional repositories as a part of a green open access policy.

Privacy Statement

Materials submitted to the journal will be kept confidential until publishing. Only editors and reviewers may access.

The names and email addresses entered on this site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of the journals and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.  

Information about a user will be saved as long as the user is active. If the user has been inactive for a year, the user will be contacted by e-mail. If the user does not respond to this e-mail, the user account and information about the user will be deleted after 1 month. If the user has participated in editorial work (e.g. as an editor, guest editor, or reveiwer), or has submitted an article to a journal, the user account and information will be saved for 3 years after the last editorial job or submission.
