Abstract
Laser ablation er en proces, hvor intense laserpulser fjerner materiale fra faste stoffer og skaber højenergiplasma. Jørgen Schou forklarer både de fundamentale fysiske mekanismer og de praktiske anvendelser – særligt inden for tyndfilmsproduktion. Artiklen giver indblik i multifoton-ionisation, plasmaproduktion og støkiometrisk materialeoverførsel. Metoden har vundet frem især til materialer med høj smeltetemperatur og anvendes bl.a. til superledere og optiske komponenter. Laser ablation åbner dermed for avanceret materialeudvikling i selv små laboratorier med begrænsede ressourcer.
