Abstract
GRACE-satellitterne måler mikroskopiske variationer i Jordens tyngdefelt og giver dermed direkte information om massefordeling på kloden. Artiklen demonstrerer, hvordan tørke, oversvømmelser og isafsmeltning kan kortlægges gennem gravimetriske signaler. Metoden bygger på præcise afstandsmålinger mellem to satellitter og kræver relativistisk korrektion og avanceret signalbehandling. Artiklen viser, hvordan klassisk mekanik, orbitaldynamik og geofysik integreres i moderne klimamonitorering. For fysikere er det et fremragende eksempel på anvendt rumgeodesi og datainversion.
