Abstract

Denne artikel introducerer partikelterapi som et avanceret alternativ til konventionel strålebehandling. Fokus er på protoner og tunge ioner, som muliggør en mere lokaliseret energideponering via Bragg-peaken. Artiklen forklarer de fysiske principper bag partikelinteraktion med væv. Den viser også de teknologiske krav til acceleratorer og behandlingsfaciliteter. For fysikere er det en oplagt demonstration af, hvordan acceleratorfysik og medicin mødes. Artiklen peger samtidig på fremtidige perspektiver for kræftbehandling.
