Abstract
Julie Vinter Hansen (1890-1960) was a pioneer. She worked as an astronomer at Astronomical Observatory at the university. In 1939 she was awarded the prestigious Tagea Brandts travel grant which she used for a travel to the USA. She had to stay here involuntarily until the end of World War II. She also got the Annie J. Cannon Award by the American Astronomical Society, the highest honor for a female astronomer. Vinter Hansen was a classical astronomer known for calculations of minor planets and comet orbits. In the 1950s she was given the supervision of the new Brorfelde Observatory. She was not only active in many professional organizations but also in several women’s organizations.
