Abstract

About Henri Nathansen's Time as a Refugee and His Death

The famous Danish author Henri Nathansen was among the Jewish refugees who came to Sweden in October 1943. He and his wife ended up in the university town of Lund in southern Sweden, but Nathansen’s deteriorating health affected him immensely, and in February 1944, he committed suicide. In this article, based on contemporary Swedish archival sources, his fate is discussed in the context of that of his other family members.
