Forestillede fremtider
Musikloven igennem 50 år

Drawing on the 50-year history of the Danish Music Act, this article examines how different visions of the future of musical life have been articulated and institutionalised through Danish music policy. Inspired by Reinhart Koselleck’s concepts of space of experience (Erfahrungsraum) and horizon of expectation (Erwartungshorizont), alongside Simon and Tamm’s work on historical futures, the article analyses four key moments in the development of the Act: its adoption in 1976, the Music School Act of 1990, the Venue Act of 2001, and the reform of the arts funding system in 2003. The analysis demonstrates how successive revisions of the Music Act continuously renegotiate the relationship between spaces of experience and horizons of expectation. Rather than revealing a single linear trajectory, the article uncovers different ways in which music-political visions shift in form, institutional affiliation, and political register.
