Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The manuscript must not have been published previously, nor be concurrently submitted to another journal with the aim of publication.

  • The manuscript file must be submitted in an OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF or similar document file format.
  • URL addresses must be provided for the references to the extent these are available.
  • The text format must be single-spaced, using a 12-point font size, with italics rather than underlining (except for URLs), and all illustrations, figures, and tables must be placed in the text at appropriate places instead of at the end of the manuscript.
  • The text must meet the stylistic and bibliographic requirements set by the Guidelines for Authors, which can be found on the About page.

Author Guidelines

The following guidelines are applicable to all submissions to the journal:

  • All papers must contain an original text which has not been previously published.
  • All papers must be submitted electronically in an Open Office, Microsoft Word, RTF or similar document file format.
  • Notes must be provided in the form of endnotes, cf. with examples below.
  • All papers must contain a bibliography, cf. with examples below.
  • All references must be supplied with a Digital Object Identifier, DOI, for the purpose of cross-referencing in library databases.
  • Submitted papers must not exceed 20 pages, defined as 2400 characters per page. Submission of lengthier papers must be done in agreement with the editorial board.
  • The papers must be written in Danish, Swedish, Norwegian Bokmål, Nynorsk or English.
  • Papers must conclude with a comprehensive summary in English. A 20-page paper would require, in principle, approximately 4 full pages of English summary.
  • All illustrations must be submitted digitally and in a high resolution suitable for printing. As a rule, exclusively images of reasonable photographic quality will be printed, both in terms of technical specifications and image subject matter. E.g. severely misaligned or distorted images should be corrected prior to submission.
  • Fabrik&Bolig seeks to increasingly emphasise high quality image material. Issues will typically feature one photograph and one illustration per double page.
  • In special cases, a map or plan can be drawn up by Fabrik&Bolig's resident graphic designer. This can only be arranged through an appointment. Contact the editorial board for more information.
  • Authors must ensure that all relevant publication rights of photographs, illustrations, etc. featured in submissions have been obtained and cleared prior to submitting their paper.

Papers must be submitted no later than the 31st  March in a given calendar year, after which the process of peer review occurs. In concert with the editors, timely submissions will then undergo any necessary adjustments prior the final delivery of the paper on August 15th. Two rounds of corrections will take place prior to the actual publication of a given issue.

Upon publication at the end of November, authors will receive 10 copies of the journal.

Spelling and grammar must conform to the respective language’s official dictionaries and grammatical standards. Punctuation, notes and literature must be grammatically sound, and must adhere to the guidelines set by this journal, cf. with examples below.

Any unanswered questions should be forwarded to the contact person assigned to the author by the editors.
