Folkeskolen is a place of both change and routine. Based on the phenomenon of literacy coaching, this article contributes knowledge about how change becomes anchored in primary and lower secondary schools and develops into sustainable learning. The article highlights the importance of organizational routines for sustainable organizational learning. Rooted in a socio-material perspective, the article draws on theories of metaphors and organizational routines as analytical tools for examining the processes through which change occurs and becomes sustainable. The article concludes that the literacy coach is a central actor in a network connected to other actors, where the interweaving of threads becomes crucial for sustaining learning in primary and lower secondary schools.
