Abstract

Considering the gradual disenchantment, the impossibility of the revolution as we had
imagined it in the 1960s and 1970s, and given the hopelessness to change the world, we
saw the emergency of culture as magical sign to the new times. In the wave of a postmodernism
of the 1980s and 1990s, we took normativity as something negative, always
oppressive, against which we all had to be insurgent, as if it was possible a non-normative
social and cultural instance. Inequality is characteristic of mankind. It is not possible to
think of human beings as equal. The fight for equality is a fight between different
parameters, a fight between criteria which cannot possibly find a balance. This essay aims
to search for the happiness in the hard reality of the daily unhappiness and misfortune and
in the imperfection of mankind as a way of confrontation to our proper human condition.
