Abstract
Gennem historiske kilder, arkæologiske fund og palæomagnetiske analyser præsenteres variationer i Jordens magnetfelt over Danmark siden istiden. Artiklen beskriver magnetiseringsmekanismer i bjergarter, laboratoriemetoder til isolation af primære signaler og brugen af sekularvariation til præcis datering. Resultaterne sættes i perspektiv med kontinentaldrift og pladetektoniske rekonstruktioner.
